Dave was off work for eight weeks because of damage to his eyes. He was misdiagnosed, and told he would need to have an operation to replace his corneas due to diabetes, but it transpired that they were scratched by dust pollution.
The lorries from Aggregate Industries depot spread clouds of dust throughout the area, covering everything with a fine, but sharp red dust. It covers everything and is so thick in the air you can taste it.
During the time he was off work, he was unable to drive and needed assistance doing basic tasks such as shopping and cooking.
